Every brand, priced for a Labrador
Ongoing prices for a neutered adult Labrador on typical walks, cheapest first at 30kg. Labradors are not all one size, so a 25kg and a 35kg dog are priced alongside. Each brand portions to the dog in front of it, so every figure prices the amount of food that brand would send for this dog.

The 30kg figures are re-checked against each brand's own signup every week, most recently on 2 Oct 2026. The 25kg and 35kg columns are read from the same price curves, which are fitted to quotes either side of them. The first-year column includes each brand's opening offer.
Already set on fresh food? The fresh-only comparison leaves kibble out of the ranking.
A Labrador's order is not a Cocker Spaniel's
Dog food prices are usually quoted for a mid-size dog, this site's own headline figures included, and for a dog the size of a Labrador some of those answers turn round. Against a 14kg Cocker Spaniel, one pair of brands changes places.
Pure Pet Food and Bella & Duke are level for a 14kg Cocker Spaniel, at £2.57 a day each. For a 30kg Labrador, Pure Pet Food comes out at £2.85 a day against £4.00 for Bella & Duke.
The reason is that each brand's price grows with portion size at its own rate, so two brands that start close together for a small dog can cross by the time the portion is a Labrador's. A ranking read off a mid-size dog is not one to carry over.

Prices sampled from each brand's own quote process, last verified 2 October 2026. Intro prices shown struck through because they only last a few weeks . The real price is what you'll pay from then on. Age, activity and neutering change how much food your dog needs; we price those portions from each brand's sampled pricing curve.
What arrives at the door for a Labrador
Portions for a big dog are where the formats stop looking alike. When we last walked the signups, in August–October 2026, a 30kg adult was built 800g a day of Butternut Box, sent as two 400g pouches a day, and 700g a day of Different Dog, sent as ten 1kg packs every two weeks. Bella & Duke's Most Popular box was 750g of raw a day, 24 tubs of 500g lasting 16 days. tails.com scooped 362g of kibble.
That is the practical question before the price one. Twelve kilos of frozen raw arriving at once needs a freezer drawer cleared for it, and the cooked plans need fridge or freezer room for a box at a time. Pure Pet Food is dehydrated, so a Labrador's food arrives dry and takes up a cupboard instead, and kibble needs nothing beyond the bag.
Why the brands disagree about how much a Labrador eats
Each brand runs its own portion engine, and for a large dog the differences are big enough to matter. Different Dog and Pure Pet Food both show a calorie figure in their signups: Different Dog worked to 1,180 kcal a day for our 30kg dog and Pure Pet Food to 1,056. The standard veterinary formula this site's calculator uses gives more than either for the same dog. None of them is wrong for being different, but it is why price per kilo of food tells you very little, and price per day for your own dog tells you nearly everything.
It is also why the order above is worth reading as a whole rather than from the top. Kibble is a dry food made at scale and sits in a different category from the fresh plans, which cost more to make and ship, and most of which need chilling. If you have already decided on fresh food, the fresh-only comparison ranks those three formats without it.
What moves your own Labrador's price
Weight first, which is why the table prices three. How active your dog is comes next, because most of the brands portion on it, and the calculator below asks. Neutering matters less than people expect. Bella & Duke never asks, and Butternut Box prices on weight and whether the dog is a puppy, so at those two it changes nothing. tails.com charged a little more for an entire dog than a neutered one on the same food when we tested it.
The intro offer is the other thing that makes a first quote look lower than the bill. Every figure on this page is the ongoing price, the one that applies once the offer has run out, which for a Labrador is the number that decides what a year costs.

Feeding a Labrador: your questions
How much does it cost to feed a Labrador per month?
For a 30kg adult Labrador, between about £59 a month on tails.com and £213 on Different Dog, at the ongoing price after any introductory offer, last verified October 2026. Those are the ends of the range across all five brands we track, ranked on price in the table above. A lighter or more active dog moves the figure, so the calculator prices your own.
Is fresh food worth it for a Labrador?
We price food rather than judge it, so this page cannot tell you whether it suits your dog. What it can tell you is the gap: the table puts every fresh plan beside personalised kibble for the same 30kg Labrador, at the price that applies after the offer. For a dog this size the gap between formats is wider in pounds than it is for a small dog, which is worth knowing before you choose.
What does a Labrador puppy cost to feed?
A Labrador puppy costs more to feed for its weight than an adult does. Every brand we track prices a puppy above an adult of the same weight, and by how much differs from brand to brand. The figures on this page are for adults, so for a puppy use the calculator above and set the age to puppy. It prices each brand on its own puppy quote, measured in that brand's signup.
My Labrador is heavier than 30kg. What changes?
The table prices a 35kg Labrador alongside the 30kg one, and the calculator takes your dog's exact weight. How much more it costs differs by brand: at some the price barely moves between 30 and 35kg, while raw rises almost in step with the dog. That is also why the order can change between sizes.
Do these prices include delivery?
Every price on this page includes standard delivery, because each is the figure the brand's own signup quoted us and all five build delivery into that quote. They are ongoing prices for a neutered adult on typical walks, after the introductory offer has ended. The first-year column includes the opening offer.
