Figures are for the Full Diet plan, the like-for-like comparison against raw and dehydrated. Different Dog also sells a Partial Diet tier at roughly half the portion, meant as a topper alongside another food, which brings the daily cost down accordingly.

How the price moves with dog size
Our sampling recorded 400g a day for a 14kg adult, 700g for a 30kg one and 800g for a 45kg one. That flattening is unusual among the brands we track, and it means the gap against the other gently cooked brand does not run the same way at every size. Which of the two leads is therefore not a fact worth fixing in a sentence: the size bands on the gently cooked comparison recompute it from the current models on every build.
For a 14kg adult the ongoing rate was £3.45 a day when we sampled it in July 2026, about £105 a month and roughly £1,260 across a full year at the standard price. That is for the Full Diet plan. If you are using Different Dog as a topper rather than the whole meal, the Partial Diet tier is about half the portion and the daily cost follows it down.
Portions, and what the funnel shows you
Different Dog publishes its own calorie calculation on the summary step, which not every brand does. For a 14kg neutered adult on one to two hours of exercise it worked to 670 kcal a day, against 811 from the standard veterinary formula the calculator here uses. Brands portion to their own curves and none of them agree exactly, which is why price per kilo of food tells you very little and price per day for your own dog tells you almost everything.
On portion size, Different Dog and Butternut Box are unusually close: 400g a day against 396g for the same 14kg dog, both working to roughly the same daily calories. So the price difference between the two cooked brands is a genuine price difference, not one of them serving less food for less money. Across the wider fresh market, portion engines can differ by 10 to 20% for one dog.
The discount applied inside the funnel when we sampled it was larger than the one advertised on the site. That is the reason we record offers from the funnel itself and re-check them weekly: offers move faster than published comparisons do, and the number on a brand's homepage banner is not always the one you end up with.

Neither is fixed as the cheaper one: which leads is not the same answer at every weight on our current figures. Rather than state a crossover here that would go stale at the next re-sample, the gently cooked comparison page works the bands out from the live models, and the calculator settles it for your dog's exact weight.
What is Different Dog's Partial Diet plan?
A smaller tier at roughly half the portion, intended to sit alongside another food rather than replace it. Every figure on this page is for the Full Diet plan instead, because that is what compares like for like against a full raw or dehydrated plan. If you feed Different Dog as a topper, expect the daily cost to fall roughly in line with the portion.
Why is my Different Dog quote higher than the price advertised?
Usually because the advertised figure is the discounted starter box and the quote is the ongoing plan, which is the price this page leads with. The other reason is the plan tier: a Full Diet quote is about double a Partial Diet one, since it is feeding the whole dog rather than topping up another food.
