The water question, priced
A cooked meal is mostly moisture, and that moisture has to be cooked, packed, frozen, kept frozen through the courier network and stored in your freezer. None of it is nutrition you could not add yourself from the tap, and all of it costs money to move. A dried plan removes the water before shipping and asks you to put it back thirty seconds before serving.

Is one of these better for a fussy dog?

Does the dried option need soaking in advance?
No. Warm water is stirred in and the food is ready in a couple of minutes, which is why it needs no freezer and no overnight planning. The trade is a small job at every meal instead of a larger one the night before, and a delivery that fits on a shelf rather than in a freezer drawer.
Why does the gap get wider for large dogs?
Because the part of the price that scales hardest is the part being shipped and frozen. A larger portion of a wet cooked plan means proportionally more weight and volume through the same chilled logistics, whereas the dried equivalent grows only by the dry matter.
