How to cancel tails.com

tails.com's help pages and terms read on 16 October 2026

You cancel tails.com online, from the My account page of your dashboard, and tails.com emails you to confirm once your deliveries are cancelled. Do it on or before the last date for changes shown for your next order, which falls more than 24 hours before the order is packed. After that date, that order is still charged and delivered.

We haven't cancelled a plan ourselves, so what follows is how tails.com describes it, with links to its own pages so you can check the wording. Its pages are always the ones that count.

The steps, as tails.com gives them

  1. Log in to your tails.com dashboard.
  2. Choose My account at the top of the page.
  3. Scroll down and click Cancel deliveries.
  4. On the next page, choose Cancel deliveries again.
  5. Select your reason for leaving, then confirm the cancellation.
  6. Check for the confirmation email. tails.com sends one once your deliveries are cancelled.

tails.com's help page on cancelling opens with suggestions for the usual reasons people leave, such as changing the recipe or moving a delivery, before it gets to the steps. If you'd rather not do it yourself, the same page offers to have its customer team cancel for you.

The last date for changes

Every order has a last date for changes, shown on your dashboard next to the delivery date. tails.com's terms put it more than 24 hours before the order is packed and shipped, and say your subscription must be cancelled on or before it. Cancel later and that order is still charged and delivered. tails.com takes payment a day or two before the delivery is due and sends a reminder email before it starts preparing the food, so that email is a good prompt to check the date.

Once an order is in progress, tails.com says it can't cancel it or move it, because each recipe is made for your dog. For the same reason it doesn't take back or refund food your dog won't eat: the usual 14 days to change your mind doesn't cover goods made to order. Faulty products are different, and tails.com's terms ask you to email them within 14 working days of receiving the order.

If you're still on the trial box

The first full monthly order follows the trial box automatically, and tails.com takes payment for it towards the end of the trial. If you are undecided, check that order's last date for changes on your dashboard and cancel or delay before it. If the problem is that your dog isn't keen, tails.com lets you change the recipe at any time: update the flavour preferences in your dog's profile, or add wet food to the meal plan. How that compares with the other four brands' terms.

If you only need a break

You don't have to cancel to stop food arriving for a while. In the Quick Links section of your dashboard, choose Pause/delay deliveries. From there you can pause for as long as you choose, or pick a new date for your next order up to 90 days away. tails.com emails to confirm a pause, and Update and resume starts orders again. The last date for changes applies here too: an order already in progress can't be moved.

If food is piling up, tails.com says unopened kibble keeps for up to 6 months sealed in a cool, dry place, and asks you to email its team if a bag regularly lasts longer than a month, so it can check the portion.

If it's the cost

tails.com's own suggestion is to take a look at the meal plan and remove anything added to the kibble, such as treats, wet food or supplements. What tails.com costs once the intro offer ends is on our cost page. If you're thinking of switching to save money, the comparison below shows where tails.com sits among the brands we track.

Coming back later

You can restart deliveries from your dashboard later. tails.com's terms say the price of each order is worked out on the day the order is processed, so check the price again before you rejoin. Our record of tails.com's prices shows whether they have moved since we started checking.
